Keeping Your Washing Machine Bright And Fresh
Most people think that just because there is already swirling water inside your washing machine when you use, there’s no need to have a separate session for keeping it clean. After all, when you push the drain button, everything, even those pesky little dirt particles, would flow out along with the water.
Unfortunately, such is not the case all the time. There are times when using the wrong liquid detergent can cause the walls of your ducts to become riddled with hardened liquid detergent. There are also times when loading too much clothes in to your tub actually leads to the formation of standing water as well as moisture formation on the walls of your tub.
In order to keep your washing machine clean, one of the things that you need to do is to run a cycle of hot water with lemon juice or white vinegar. By doing so, you are able to loosen up all the grime that has built up over the years. If the smell of the vinegar is too strong for you, you can then run a cycle of water with about two teaspoons of baking powder. This would help take away the smell of the vinegar.
Don’t forget to wipe your tub dry. Any moisture that gets left behind can start anew your washing machine smell problem. If you do not have the time to dry it, leave the door open to air dry it. This is especially applicable if your have a frontloading washing machine.
To make sure that you have a clean washing machine, you would need to check also the drain pipes, the ducts and the filters. Oftentimes, organic materials get trapped in these parts. These materials then undergo chemical breakdown which leads them to release a putrid or rancid smell.
Although most people do not know it, cleaning washer can actually lead to a healthier body. This is because a clean washer means no molds and mildews that can cause a number of respiratory disorders as well as allergies. A clean washer will also mean that your clothes will be smelling fresh and not musty.
